This is one of my favorite portraits of myself this year. As usual, it was taken by my husband and edited by me. This is exactly how most of photos of me in my profile were taken - in a tandem with my 💖 insta-husband. I am so used to it and so comfortable working with him - that makes me one of those rare people who never ask their friends to take photos of them 😃😀 Even though many of my friends are professional photographers👆
Going deeper into the details, it was actually my husband who re-introduced me to photography. Especially to its analog kind🎞. When we’ve met, back in Poland, he was into black and white film photography, going everywhere with his analog camera, developing his photos in a dark room organized in his bathroom, and taking classes from one Italian photographer in his atelier. Whilst I was a corporate girl, working 9 to 5 (when I wasn’t one hour late to work😀) and struggling with my art - mainly paintings 🖼 after hours.
Now that I am thinking of all that with a certain distance, it all seems to me such a crazy and cool story - I’ll need to tell you all of it in my next posts!!...
So after my daily job I was sometimes painting, learning a technique, and trying to make my art seen. I was leaning towards something creative, being not satisfied with very limited to me office job. Before meeting Antonin I wouldn’t even think of photography as an option. I took an ambitious plan to become a 👩🏼🎨😀
So when Antonin once gave me his grandfather’s vintage film camera 📸 for my solo trip to Barcelona and I made my first photos on it (you can even see them if you are patient enough to scroll to the "beginning of times"), it felt as such a relief compared to painting.
Photography still felt artistic and creative, but without the struggle and worrying about the final result which I associate with painting.
Long story short, I became a professional photographer in a couple of years and photography stays our small family hobby that we share. After developing every film and almost after every photoshoot I still call Antonin to see the results and go through all the photos with me, asking him for his opinion. And he seems to still enjoy it 😀
